Por los caídos en el ejercicio del periodismo

y cuyas voces y miradas inquisidoras
nos observan desde la parte posterior de una lápida
apagada, más no callada porque claman
por que se acabe la odiosa impunidad
que no nos deja descansar con tranquilidad.

A algunos no los conocí,
otros ni siquiera fueron mis amigos
y unos más, quizás la mayor parte
de ellos, prestaron sus conocimientos
para ocultar la verdad.

Cosas que no comparto pero mucho menos
compartiré la brutalidad del sistema que silencia
las voces disonantes de esta triste realidad
que se llama Honduras.

Amo el periodismo porque es un instrumento
para educar y decir la verdad,
no importa el costo pero siempre la verdad.

Reflexiono agradecido con periodistas como
David Romero, Johnny Lagos, Esdras Amado López, en su momento; con radio Progreso y otros pocos medios
a cuya labor me uní a través de internet
para romper el cerco mediático impuesto
en el país por la prensa corporativa
que antes que decir la verdad
prefirió asociarse a las personas y grupos
de poder más oscuros y lesivos a los
intereses de la patria y de nuestro pueblo.

Recuerdo jornadas, tras la asonada golpista
de ese día infame, en las que reproducíamos
de forma escrita las transmisiones de Radio Globo
sobre la brutal represión policial-militar
y de los escuadrones de la muerte
contra el pueblo en resistencia.

Siempre observaba el indicador de visitas
de internet y cuan aliviado me sentía
saber que el mundo se estaba enterando
de la realidad que sufrimos desde esa fecha; hubo
ocasiones que il indicador de visitas a la Globo
mostraba que más de medio millón de personas
en el mundo escuchaban la radio a esa hora.

Hoy, seguimos enarbolando esa bandera
de dignidad y apego desinteresado a la verdad;
si algo temo en esta vida, es mentir porque es
en ese momento en que más creo en Jesús y
en la forma en que vemos el pecado, si no es más
que en la mentira, la verdad, el robo, el crimen
y la falta de sensibilidad hacia los demás.

A 26 años de ejercer esta profesión
puedo decir que nunca me he beneficiado de ella,
que nunca utilizaría mi posición para con ella
construir una base de apoyo político
que contribuyan a materializar ambiciones
personales, individualistas y por lo
tanto arribistas lindando en el egoísmo.

Que si algo de este ejercicio me cambió la vida
fue el golpe de estado del 28 de junio de 2009;
ese día firmé en mi consciencia mi adhesión
a la ruptura del cerco mediático y el apego
eterno a las libertades civiles y políticas de mi pueblo.

Me abrazo a mis compañeros de Criterio hn
porque tienen el valor de abrir y sostener
esa trinchera del libre juego de ideas,
de pensamiento crítico en un momento de la historia
y en punto geográfico en donde decir la verdad
es un acto de revolución,
algo tan bien descrito por el gran pensador George Orwell.
